Subject: ketchup and tomato sauce

what is the difference between ketchup and tomato sauce

Ketchup is made from tomato concentrate (made from tomatoes), vinegar, sweetners and seasonings.  Tomato sauce is just made from cooking tomatoes into a medium thick consistency then straining seeds and peels.  The tomato sauce can be sold as is or seasoned.

Agreed -- for further information, see our Food Glossary entries on ketchup and tomato sauce.

Thanks for that info. I didn't want to but a full bottle of ketchup for one recipe, I can now adjust my recipe to suit
