do your tastebuds adjust to scolville units? ie do they get used to eating spicy food?

Yes, when consumed on a regular basis, your tolerance for it is increased immensely!

I'm very partial to hot and spicy food and when I was living in England I used to regularly have Chicken vindaloo and eventually phaal but now I'm living in Moscow, Russia the food is a lot milder and there's no way my tastebuds could handle a vindaloo or phaal. So to sum up I could of said Yes they do adjust hehe!

I adore spicy foods!  The hotter the better.  I put Dave's Insanity Sauce in many dishes.  When I got married everything I made was "too spicy" for my husband.  I can't say he's quite acquired my fervor for the heat, but he has come a long way.  He even has taken a liking for chipotles, yum.

Yes!!!!  As a younger person, I got the sweats from eating black pepper!  But after slowly ramping up the heat over the years, I can now eat (and enjoy) foods with a good amount of hot sauce.
