    Calendar on Vista

No idea what is wrong. I am now running Vista and everything seemed normal until I went to do this week's menu plan. Clicking on calendar, where there should be a square box showing all the dates - it is blank :(

Any suggestions what to do?  For this week I will have to write a manual plan since I can't change it from today's date.

Hmm.  We have several Vista machines here and it's running fine.  Can you verify that you have the following DLLs in your c:\program files\lakefront software\bigoven directories:

    MFC71.DLL

    MSVCR71.DLL

    MSVCP71.DLL

If you don't have all of these files (or even if you do), you might try re-running the installer and chosing the "repair" option to restore those files.

ok, I tried a repair - same problem (all DLL's were present at the start)

Uninstalled BO, reinstalled and applied patch - same problem.

Any other suggestions? This is very awkward to use without the calendar dates. I cannot amend the menu plan, so if I make any errors, I have to clear it and re-enter everything by clicking Add Cal and specifying the date.

    Re: Calendar on Vista

That's really odd -- we don't notice this on any of our Vista machines here.

On a little more research, the DLL which contains the month calendar control that we use is called COMCTL32.DLL -- for some reason, perhaps yours isn't complete on your PC, or an outdated version.  You can get an updated one from this zip file -- it belongs in your c:\windows\system32 directory.  (Note, these DLLs were taken from a fresh Vista Home Premium machine; do not try to install on XP, NT, 2000, 98, ME, or 95.)

thank you for the zip file. The DLL file was there and the same size although the ocx file wasn't. I couldn't replace the DLL, Vista just says "Need Permission" (so helpful)

Put the OCx file in System32 and rebooted but I still have the same problem - no calendar :(

I am an administrator. the DLL file is the exact same size and modified date as the one I have.

Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas at this point -- we cannot seem to replicate this issue on our Vista PC's here (we have machines with all flavors of Vista and the calendar does appear to work in all of them).  We'll continue checking but at this  point we're kind of scratching our heads on this one.

     Hi,

I took some screenshot of the problems with the calendar. I think the calendar view is displaying the bottom part. White with 2 red lines.

ok, I had an epiphany and thought what if its a conflict with existing software.

The conflict is with Window blinds 6. If I unload it (boo) the calendar displays perfectly. I will report this to Stardock as well if that helps.

for now - Unload WB6 to do my menu! :) which is a solution of sorts.

    Bingo.

Thanks -- yes, Windows Blinds (and other UI "enhancers") work by intercepting window painting messages and can really mess up many programs.  Thanks for checking in -- we'll add this to our FAQ.
