Finger sandwiches are leaving tea parties and joining the happy hour crowd.
Your guests will enjoy robust flavors hiding behind a sweet and innocent face.
Toast the bread lightly. Cut off the crusts, then cut the slices into 4 - 6 pieces.
Mash the olives into the cream cheese with a fork. Spread slices of the bread with the olive spread.
Cut the round slices of salami and perreroni in half (to form a 1/2 moon shape).
Placing a slice of pepperoni on top of a slice of salami, curl them around your finger to form a cone. The round edge will be the point of the cone.
Use a bit of the cream sheese mixture to "glue" the slices together and place a cone on each slice of bread.
OPTIONS:
Add some sweet pickle relish to the spread.
Substitute your favorite thin deli meat.
Peel long thin slices of carrot and chill them in a little sweet picke juice. They will curl up.
Use them (or pickled beets) instead of meat for a vegetarian version.
Look for bread labeled "Very Thin." Pepperidge Farm makes a good one in both white and wheat.
