Re: Sauces for Chinesehttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxi'm also a big dragon and phoenix fan and would love to learn how to prepare it. it taste like an orange and chilli sauce thinkened with cornstartch.......delicious

i have tried to duplicate the sauce myself and had a descent result but not quite there. i started with a small can of frozen concentrated orange juice which i reduced then added some asian chillie garlic sauce and thickened with the cornstartch

this is a pretty good place to start if you feel like experimenting a bit.

Can I get a lumpia?!http://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxBeing Filipino, most of what I eat is Asian food: sinigang, adobo, curry, lumpia, pansit, karekare, and tons more.  I'm always bummed when people discuss Asian foods, but leave out the Philippine cuisine.  We don't have sushi (yum!!), but we do have just about everything else. :P  Maybe I need to start posting recipes so people can start trying this *amazingly delicious* stuff out!

And yes, I am completely and utterly biased towards Filipino food. =]

Re: Tangerine peelhttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxIf I were you, I would put a small amount in a 1/4 glass of water, and taste it , and see how strong it seems to taste. Then measure accordingly in the future.

Re: just joined uphttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxMy fave Asian cuisine is a tie between Thai and Chinese.

Fave Thai dish is Pad Thai (done extra spicy with sambol olek).

Fave Chinese dish is Mongolian Beef.

I enjoy making both at home

I love all Asian food, except sushi/sashimi. I try it every once in a while with my boyfriend, but so far nothing has stuck!

Re: RE: Where to find a really good Asian grocery store in the Dallas areahttp://www.bigoven.com/groups.aspxHello, the asian market I go to is in Plano. They have the freshest meats and vegies around and they have authentic , Japanese, Korean and Chinese food. Its the best asian market I have been too. Its kind of like a mini asian mall. They even have a Japanese crepe shop and a Japanese bakery. Its all very good.
