About me
In the 70's, I was considered a "Latch Key" kid. Making snacks for myself and using the stove happened at an age that would probably astound most modern day parants. I made canned soup, eggs, whatever was in the fridge. My mom and dad were great cooks but not always around after school. But I did learn a lot of technique and apprection of different tastes from both of them. They gave me the open mindedness to try things that kids my age probably wouldn't even look at. It wasn't unusual for me to take after my mom or my dadywhile ordering and asking if the fish was, "fresh or frozen" (age 10).
At present, some 40 years later, I am married to a great lady who I love to be in the kitchen with. We are always looking for new and different recipes from anywhere on the globe. Almost three years ago, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Once her surgery was over and her other treatment began, I did most of the cooking. I baked bread every week for an entire year because it brought such a warm feeling to the house in an otherwise dismal time. And what better a reward could there be than to watch her eat a piece of warm bread slathered with butter right out of the oven! I don't bake as much right now, but I'm sure that will change come winter.
She's on the road to recovery now and we still love to cook with each other. Granted, I probably have more interest but she is a very important critic and helper even when she isn't cooking. Be sure to visit my blog at casadebellacat.blogspot.com/
