About me

I (Laura) am a stay-at-home mom of 3 small children. I studied classical voice training in college. I also teach swim lessons and lifeguarding during the summer, and I help my husband with our photography studio.

Titus teaches piano at MTSU, the local university and teaches photography at a local tutorial academy. He also owns a photography studio, where he shoots weddings, portraits, headshots, CD covers, and fine art and where he teaches photography lessons for those learning how to use their camera.

Art is in our blood. We strive for beauty and creativity in whatever we pursue. Titus grew up in the kitchen helping his mother cook and grew an appreciation for food and for the art of cooking. I try to influence our family's eating habits in a healthy way, substituting healthier ingredients into everyday meals. We both like to cook, but Titus is the real chef of the family. Romanian-born, he brings all kinds of unique (to me at least) tastes to the table. He especially loves to make art with food. I've learned that I must follow a recipe, and Titus cannot. If I try to improvise, or Titus tries not to, our food comes out all wrong!

My Favorite Foods

I love the eastern European dish sarmale. It's essentially beef or pork and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves (or grape leaves, depending on which region you are from) and cooked in a tomato-ish "soup". This dish MUST be eaten with sour cream on top and (fresh) bread in hand.

My weakness is cookies, but I also love fresh, warm sweet breads like banana or strawberry...take your pick. I also have never had cake like the cakes that Romanian women make. I will have to try and submit a recipe or two of these cakes, although these women don't follow recipes either.

Hi Laura. I like your website. We share a lot of interests. My first real camera was a Petri, I got it while in Korea long ago. I also like Dreamweaver and Photoshop. But I'm an amateur. I could use a lesson or two. Anyway—from Columbus, Ohio, Welcome to Big Oven.

Hi there, and welcome, cant wait to see what creative recipes that you post on here, CCheryl
