Ingredients

1/2 cup Sugar

1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

2 lbs Granny Smith Apples Peeled, Cored & Sliced

2 tablespoons All purpose flour

1/2 cup Sugar

1/2 cup All purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon Ground Ginger

1/8 teaspoon Ground Mace

1/2 cup Butter softened

3 tablespoons Lemon Juice

1 each Pastry for single pie crust


Directions

Prepare the Apples Peel / Core and Slice the Apples Combine 1/2 cup of the sugar, the 2 tablespoons of flour and the lemon zest. Sprinkle lemon juice over the apple slices, then add sugar mixture ensuring all apples are coated. Let sit for at least 15 minutes stirring every 5 minutes. Prepare the Crumble Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup all purpose flour and the spices. Cut in butter into sugar/flour/spice mixture and mix with hands until crumbly. Make the Pie Pour apples into pastry lined 9 inch pie plate. Top apples with Crumble mixture Bake in oven at 375 °F (190 °C / Gas Mark 5) for 1 hour or until crumble starts to brown
