Yummy on French toast. Wasn't sure about butter buds so used real butter.

I loved this. I made a full cake pan of the apples and they were gone in 5 min. and there is only 4 if us and 2 are under 4 lol. Will be making this next week again

These spicy, tender, succulent sliced apples are the perfect breakfast side dish, and make a great accompaniment to pork chops. The most time-consuming part of the preparation is the peeling, coring, and slicing of the apples, and even that doesn't take too terribly long. I discard the Butter Buds in favor of actual butter, which I melt in the microwave and stir together with the other coating ingredients. This is a recipe to rely on, one that has quickly become a favorite in my household.

I have this recipe in one of my Top Secret cookbooks and have always loved it. We use way less water than the recipe calls for. (Maybe a quarter cup!) We also use butter, not butter buds and we put the cut up butter on the apples rather than mix it in with the other ingredients.
