Bread Custard Pudding with Raisins

Ingredients

1 quart milk Cook 'til milk steams

2/3 C sugar

4 slices bread white works best

1 stick butter or margarine plus extra for serving dish

4 Eggs beaten

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/3 C raisins


Directions

Cube bread and place in buttered soufflé type casserole dish (fairly deep). Distribute raisins evenly throughout. Heat milk in microwave-safe dish to which you've added the butter in pieces. Once the butter has melted, add sugar, salt, vanilla, and nutmeg. Add this mixture slowly to the beaten eggs. Pour over cubed bread and raisins, Sprinkle nutmeg on top. Place in pan with hot water and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Coconut can also be added with the nutmeg.
