Chocolate de Navidad

Ana Maria Escalante's recipe for Peruvian holiday hot chocolate. Make with Sol del Cusco chocolate.

Ingredients

5 cans evaporated milk

5 cans water (use the empty evaporated milk can as a measure)

3/4 cup cocoa (dilute in some of the milk)

8 oz baking chocolate

2 tbsp corn starch (dilute in a little water or milk)

3/4 cup Sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp butter (for shine)


Directions

Shave or grate the chocolate. Bring milk and water to a boil. Whisk in the cocoa, baking chocolate, sugar, and vanilla. Simmer, then add the corn starch, when thickened, remove from heat and add the butter. Serve hot.
