1. Season the flour with garlic, one teaspoon of salt, and one quarter teaspoon of pepper in a resealable plastic bag. Shake the flour-coated chicken in a bag (work in batches). Salt and pepper the breadcrumbs on a rimmed platter and set them aside.
2. Whisk the egg and tablespoon of water in a larger basin. Chicken from the flour, egg mixture, and breadcrumbs. After carefully pressing breadcrumbs into the chicken, set it on a clean platter. Repeat with the remaining chicken.
3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Brown the chicken pieces in batches, starting on each side, for about 8 minutes. Spatula the chicken nuggets on a paper towel-lined dish. Serve with salt while heated.
