A fluffy, creamy, orange and chocolate dream! I found this recipe in Family Circle Magazine in 1983 and I have made it every year since. I have tried different chocolate morsels and they all work great. Special dark chocolate is my favorite. They are a nice change from regular chocolate chip cookies.
Category: Desserts
Cuisine: American
2 1/4 cups All purpose flour sifted
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Shortening
1 cup Sugar
3 ounces Cream cheese softened
2 large Eggs
2 teaspoon Orange juice
1 teaspoon Orange rind grated
6 ounces Semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups Powdered sugar
3 ounces Cream cheese softened
1 teaspoon Orange juice
1 teaspoon Orange rind grated
the recipe was very light. I made it with butter instead of shortening and I added 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Also, using mini choc chips didnt weigh down the cookie and I used about 1 tbsp of orange zest. Depending on the size of the spoon you are using, it also didnt make 6 dozen, it only made 3.5. Not a problem, just let others know.
