Peanut Butter Bars

Mom used to make these at Christmas time, but she always doubled the recipe and did it in a 9" x 13" pan.

Ingredients

1 cup Brown sugar packed

1 cup Butter softened

3 tablespoon Peanut butter

2 cup Flour

1 teaspoon Baking soda

1/2 teaspoon Salt

2 tablespoon Shortening

1 tablespoon Butter

1 oz Bittersweet chocolate

1/4 cup milk

2 cups Powdered sugar or more


Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. To create cookie base: Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside. Cream brown sugar, butter and peanut butter together in medium bowl. Add flour mixture and stir well. Press mixture into an ungreased 9"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. Cool. To make frosting: Heat shortening, butter, bittersweet chocolate and milk until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar (around 2 cups or so) until thick. Frost cooled base and cut into bars.
