One Thanksgiving, I attempted to bake an apple pie. Needless to say, it was a little runny and the apples were still a little crunchy. I never heard the end of it from Grandpa! After that, Grandma gave me her recipe for apple pie.

PREHEAT OVEN TO 450 DEGREES.
Peel and core apples. Slice into eighths, and toss with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Arrange in a 9" pie crust.
Sift together the sugar and flour, and then cut in 1/3 cup butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apples.
Bake in a hot oven (450 degrees) for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees, and bake about 40 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
