A no-nonsense, easy to make version of this classic. This one is a favourite of my boyfriends :) This is no haute cuisine, just your one of your "everyday" recipes.
Heat the oil over a medium to high heat and once warm, add the onions and garlic and fry for around 5 minutes or until the onions start to become soft.
Add in the ground beef and fry until browned for around 5-10 minutes.
Add the cans of chopped tomatoes, kidney beans, chill powder, onion salt.
Depending on your taste, add in a few dashes of Tabasco for a warm chilli or go mad if you like your food fiery!
Let simmer for around 40-60 minutes.
This is one of those dishes which seem to "mature" over time, so it's great to prep in the morning and let sit during the day to serve later that night.
I usually serve with warm pittas, plain white rice or both...
Add in the tabasco a little at a time so you can get the warmth you want rather than put too much in right up front!
