Suggest a better descriptionPreheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Reduce speed to low; add flour mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat just until smooth scraping bowl frequently with spatula.
Spoon batter into prepared pans. Bake about 30 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. With small knife, loosen layers from sides of pans; invert onto wire racks to cool completely.
