New York style hot dogs with a spicy onion sauce, mustard and sauerkraut

1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, heat oil until hot; add onions and saute 8 to 10 minutes or until golden and tender.
2. Add ketchup, chili powder, cinnamon, salt, and hot pepper sauce; mix well. Stir in water and bring mixture to a boil.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, 8 to 10 minutes or until mixture is heated through.
4. Bring 8 cups of water to a boil on high heat in a large pot. Add the hot dogs and continue to boil until heated through, 3 to 5 minutes.
5. Add mustard to each bun. Top with the hot dog, followed by the onion sauce and sauerkraut.
