Do not warm butter to room temperature. Remove it from the refrigerator and immediately cream butter and white and brown sugar together in mixer. Add egg. Beat well.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Combine milk and vanilla.
Alternate adding dry and wet ingredients until just blended.
Add nuts, raisins, and oats. Beat gently until just blended. Refrigerate dough for 15 minutes.
Drop 1" balls of dough onto parchment paper covered cookie sheet. Return the rest of the dough to the refrigerator between cooking.
Bake at 375? for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges and top just begin to brown.
