Welsh Grandma's Christmas Pudding (recipe from before 1919). These should be made at least 5 weeks before Christmas. This recipe makes about 4 puddings and they are traditionally kept for over a year. I now reduce the recipe.
Mix all dry ingredients. Beat eggs and stir them in. Lastly add stout. Stir all very well together. Put into basins -- press well down. Boil for eight hours (set in saucepan of continually boiling water).
Reheat on Christmas Day by boiling again for one hour. Serve with white sauce. (note: put foil over the top of the basin and tie on with string. You can use the slow cooker instead of a pot on the stove to boil the puddings.)
