1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Grease a 2 quart baking dish.
3. Slice and spread peaches in a single layer in baking dish.
4. Sprinkle peaches with 2 Tablespoons sugar.
5. Beat 1 cup sugar and softened butter together until smooth.
6. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
7. Mix until combined.
8. Add egg and vanilla.
9. Mix until batter has the consistency of cookie dough.
10. Carefully spread batter evenly over the peaches.
11. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
12. Remove from oven and let stand 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
13. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
