The spices add a lot of flavor so it doesn't require as much sugar as traditional pecan pie.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and syrup. In small bowl combine flour, salt, cloves, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts and mix well. Pour into prepared pie shell and bake 5 minutes on bottom shelf of oven; reduce temperature to 325 degrees and continue baking 40-45 minutes.

I used a refrigerated pre-made pie crust roll, such as Pillsbury brand, and placed in a glass pie baking dish.
