Delicious butter based German Christmas cookies!

-Cream butter and margarine
-Add sugar and continue to mix until light and fluffy.
-Mix in salt and finely ground almonds.
-Add in vanilla and gradually mix in flour 1 cup at a time.
-Chill dough until firm enough to handle.
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-Roll out dough on floured surface until about 1/4” thick then cut about 1 1/2” rounds with a cookie cutter.
-Place rounds on parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until rarely brown.
-Remove immediately from baking sheet and cool on cooling rack.
-Add thin layer of jelly between 2 cookies and rolling sugar to coat outside of cookies.
-Store in airtight container in layers separating each layer with wax paper.
While working with dough keep extra dough chilled in refrigerator until ready to roll out. Depending on your refrigerator temp if dough is to hard to work with knead small amounts in hands to warm it up a bit before rolling.
